How long is the flight to Morocco from the US?
Morocco is closer to the US than most people expect. It sits just across the Atlantic from the East Coast, and several cities now have nonstop service. Here are the typical flight times to Morocco, based on current airline schedules.
| From | To | Airline | Typical flight time |
|---|---|---|---|
| New York (JFK) | Casablanca | Royal Air Maroc | About 7 hours |
| Newark (EWR) | Marrakech | United (winter season) | About 7.5 hours |
| Washington Dulles (IAD) | Casablanca | Royal Air Maroc | About 7 to 7.5 hours |
| Atlanta (ATL) | Marrakech | Delta (winter season) | About 8 hours |
| Miami (MIA) | Casablanca | Royal Air Maroc | About 8 hours |
| Los Angeles (LAX) | Casablanca | Royal Air Maroc | About 11 hours |
| Boston, Chicago and other cities | Casablanca or Marrakech | One stop | About 10 to 18 hours |
These are flying times for the outbound trip. Schedules change by season, so always check the exact time on the airline’s booking page before you plan your first day.
New York to Morocco flight time
New York is the easiest example, because it has the most choice. The New York to Morocco flight time is about 7 hours on the Royal Air Maroc nonstop from JFK to Casablanca, and about 7.5 hours on the United nonstop from Newark to Marrakech, which runs in the winter season.
So the flight time from New York to Casablanca Morocco is roughly the same as a flight from New York to Western Europe. Most flights leave New York in the evening and land in Morocco the next morning. Morocco is 4 to 5 hours ahead of New York, depending on the time of year, so a 10 pm departure usually lands around 10 am local time. That gives you a full day to settle into your riad, walk a little and sleep early.
Boston to Morocco flight time
There is no nonstop flight from Boston right now. The Boston to Morocco flight time with one stop is usually about 10 to 14 hours in total, connecting through New York or a European hub such as Paris, Madrid or Lisbon. A short connection through New York often keeps the trip closest to 10 hours.
From the Midwest and the West Coast
Royal Air Maroc started a nonstop route from Los Angeles to Casablanca in June 2026, a flight of about 11 hours. From Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Denver or San Francisco, you will connect once, usually through New York, Washington, Atlanta or Europe. Plan on about 13 to 18 hours in total, depending on the layover.
Direct flights to Morocco: who flies nonstop
If you want the shortest trip, look for direct flights to Morocco first. These are the direct flights to Morocco from the USA right now:
- Royal Air Maroc, Morocco’s national airline, flies nonstop to Casablanca from New York JFK, Washington Dulles and Miami, and three times a week from Los Angeles. You can see its current routes on the Royal Air Maroc website.
- United flies nonstop from Newark to Marrakech in the winter season, restarting on October 24, 2026.
- Delta flies nonstop from Atlanta to Marrakech three times a week in the winter season, from October 25, 2026. Delta first launched the Atlanta to Marrakech route in October 2025.
Casablanca’s Mohammed V airport is the main hub, so a Royal Air Maroc ticket also connects easily to Marrakech, Fes, Tangier, Agadir and other Moroccan cities on a short domestic flight.
Direct flights to Marrakech
Direct flights to Marrakech from the US run mainly in the cooler months, with United from Newark and Delta from Atlanta. The rest of the year, the usual way to reach Marrakech is a nonstop flight to Casablanca and then either a short connecting flight of about an hour or a road transfer of about 3 hours. Many European airlines also fly to Marrakech, so a stop in Europe works well too.
London to Morocco flight time and other European cities
Many Americans combine Morocco with a trip to Europe, and the flights from there are short. The London to Morocco flight time is about 3 to 4 hours.
| From | To | Typical flight time |
|---|---|---|
| London | Marrakech | About 3.5 to 4 hours |
| Manchester | Marrakech | About 4 hours |
| London | Casablanca | About 3 hours |
| Paris | Marrakech | About 3 hours |
| Madrid | Marrakech | About 1.5 to 2 hours |
| Lisbon | Casablanca | About 1.5 hours |
Budget airlines fly to Marrakech, Fes, Tangier and Agadir from many European cities, which makes a few days in Spain or Portugal followed by Morocco an easy plan.
Flights to Morocco from Canada, Asia and Australia
Morocco is well connected far beyond the US and Europe. Here is what to expect from the other main regions.
From Canada
Royal Air Maroc flies nonstop to Casablanca from Montreal and Toronto, and Air Canada flies nonstop from Montreal. The flight from Montreal takes about 7 hours, and from Toronto about 7.5 to 8 hours. Like the flights from New York, most leave in the evening and land in Morocco the next morning.
From Asia and the Middle East
The Gulf and Istanbul are the main gateways from Asia. Emirates, Qatar Airways, Turkish Airlines and Royal Air Maroc all fly nonstop to Casablanca, so most travelers from Asia need only one connection.
| From | Route | Typical flight time |
|---|---|---|
| Dubai | Nonstop to Casablanca (Emirates) | About 8 hours |
| Doha | Nonstop to Casablanca (Qatar Airways, Royal Air Maroc) | About 8 hours |
| Istanbul | Nonstop to Casablanca (Turkish Airlines, Royal Air Maroc) | About 4.5 to 5 hours |
| Beijing | Nonstop to Casablanca (Royal Air Maroc) | About 12 hours |
| India, Southeast Asia, Japan, Korea | One stop in Dubai, Doha or Istanbul | About 14 to 20 hours in total |
From Asia, it is worth choosing a connection that lands in Morocco in the morning or early afternoon, so you arrive in daylight and can rest before dinner.
From Australia and New Zealand
There is no nonstop flight from Australia or New Zealand. Most travelers connect in the Middle East or in Europe, and the whole trip usually takes more than 24 hours. Breaking the journey with a night in Dubai, Doha or a European city makes the arrival much easier.
Which airport should you fly into?
The best airport is the one closest to where your trip starts, because it saves you a long drive on day one.

- Casablanca (CMN): the main international airport and the hub for most flights from the US. A good start for the imperial cities, Rabat and the north.
- Marrakech (RAK): the best start for Marrakech, the Atlas Mountains and the Sahara.
- Fes (FEZ): handy for Fes, Chefchaouen and the desert at Merzouga.
- Tangier (TNG): the gateway to the north and Chefchaouen.
- Agadir (AGA): the beach and the south.
A popular plan for a first visit is to land in Casablanca and fly home from Marrakech, or the other way round, so you never have to drive back to where you started. Our Morocco 101 guide explains the main regions and how many days you need.
Why the flight home takes longer
The flight back to the US is usually about an hour longer than the flight to Morocco. Strong winds high over the Atlantic blow from west to east, so they push you along on the way out and slow you down on the way home. From Casablanca to New York, plan on about 8 hours.
How to make the long flight easier
A 7 or 8 hour overnight flight is very manageable with a little planning.
- Pick the overnight flight. Try to sleep on board, then stay awake until the evening in Morocco. It is the fastest way to adjust to the time difference.
- Check your passport. US citizens do not need a visa for stays of up to 90 days. Your passport should be valid for your whole stay; check the US State Department page for Morocco before you fly.
- Set up your phone before you land. An eSIM means you have data the moment you arrive. See our Morocco SIM card and eSIM guide.
- Keep the first day light. Plan a calm afternoon, a late lunch on a terrace and an early night. Save the big sightseeing for day two.
- Pick your season. Flights and hotels fill up around the holidays and in spring. Our guide to the best time to visit Morocco helps you choose your dates.
